Cap 24 - STUDIES

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I wish to acknowledge the following as contributing to the present and other of my works. First, the three churches that I have pastored through the years during which I have accumulated and formulated the numerous materials herein and elsewhere set forth. These churches, The First Baptist Church of Kirk, Colorado (1959-1969), The Immanuel Baptist Church of Wellington, Kansas (1969-1982), and The Heritage Baptist Church of Salem, Ohio (1983-present), have all encouraged me in my writings. These not only tolerated the sometimes rather deep doctrinal preaching and teaching but actually responded with evidences of deepening understanding and increasing spirituality. Often there was the receiving of these doctrines as the Word of God, and the diligent searching of the Scriptures whether these things were so (Acts 17:11), and few have been the reflections upon, and the rejections of, the doctrinal truths set forth. Though the people that make up these churches were, like this writer, simply sinners saved by grace, yet he counts it a privilege to have been associated with them these past forty-four years and they have in their prayer and financial support been associates with me in producing these writings.

Second, much thanks is due to Elder Ron Cook and Loyal Webb in the Providence Baptist Ministries of Granbury, Texas, for their numerous formatting of materials, and for their many well-thought out suggestions in regard to the preparations of materials for publication. This has been a work to which they feel called, and which they exercised before they and I, in the providence of God, were brought together. They have borne much expense, not only in the formatting, proofing, correcting and other things relative to printing spiritual material, but also in numerous telephone calls to confer and to confirm and to clarify, as well as the expense of mailing the prepared materials. Their web site is a rich source of Baptist materials from several authors, and interested souls should avail themselves of its treasures. (www.pbministries.org)

Finally, acknowledgement is due to my wife Bettye who has often had to forego my attention and has suffered long while I dug into tomes of theology as I endeavored to work up some spiritual study. She has frequently acknowledged that I am "hard to live with" if I am not constantly writing, since I feel this is my calling. She has also sometimes helped with the proof-reading of material, and is the faithful keeper of the accounts and the one that prepares books for mailing. Her helpfulness in these and other areas, in additional to her regular duties is appreciated for it has enabled me to give a fuller attention to my calling to write.
